Anodizing
CNCALPARTS machines aluminum only, so anodizing is part of our everyday production conversation, not an afterthought. From Type II decorative finishes to Type III hard anodizing, we control wall thickness, surface condition, and pre-anodize preparation so your aluminum parts look right and hold tolerance after coating.

Anodizing for CNC Machined Aluminum Parts
Anodizing is an electrochemical process that grows a controlled oxide layer on the aluminum surface. It is not a paint or a coating that sits on top of the part. That difference matters for machining: the finish depends on the alloy, the surface left by the cutting tools, the geometry of edges and holes, and the dimensional allowance built into the drawing.
Because CNCALPARTS works with aluminum every day, we plan anodizing into the machining process rather than treating it as a separate step. We review alloy selection, cosmetic surfaces, thin walls, threaded features, and tight bores before the first cut, so the finished anodized part meets both appearance and functional requirements.
Finish Types
Type II sulfuric anodizing for appearance and corrosion protection, Type III hard anodizing for wear resistance, and clear, black, or color options to match your product requirements.
Pre-Anodize Preparation
Bead blasting, brushing, and polishing are matched to the intended finish. Cosmetic parts are handled to avoid scratches, tool marks, and uneven texture that anodizing would amplify.
Dimension Control
Anodic layers add thickness, so we account for growth on tight bores, threads, and mating surfaces. Tolerances down to ±0.01 mm are reviewed against the finish specification.
Why Anodizing Works Best With an Aluminum-Only Shop
Anodizing results are directly influenced by the alloy and the machining process. 6061, 7075, 6082, 2024, and 5052 each respond differently to the anodizing bath, and the surface left by the cutting tools affects how the finish appears. A shop that runs aluminum only can tune tooling, workholding, and cutting parameters around these variables.
Alloy-Specific Parameters
Cutting speed, feed, and tool selection are adjusted per aluminum grade so the machined surface anodizes evenly and predictably.
Deformation Control
Thin walls, deep pockets, and large plates are machined with stress release and stable setups so parts stay flat through finishing.
Cosmetic Consistency
Parts with visible surfaces are machined and handled to produce a uniform finish across the batch, not just on the first article.
Repeatable Production
From prototype to low-volume and batch production, we keep setups and inspection criteria stable so anodized parts match across orders.
