Precision 5-Axis CNC Machining for Complex Aluminum Components
At CNCALPARTS, we focus exclusively on aluminum. While many shops try to be generalists, we have optimized our facility, tooling, and programming for the unique characteristics of aluminum alloys. That specialization shows most clearly in our 5-axis department, where we produce complex, high-tolerance components for robotics, optics, and industrial automation.

Why 5-Axis Machining for Aluminum?
Complex aluminum parts often feature non-orthogonal geometries, compound angles, and deep internal pockets. Using a 3-axis machine for these parts requires multiple setups, which introduces cumulative tolerance errors and increases lead times.
Our 5-axis capabilities let us machine complex geometries in a single setup. By rotating the part or the spindle to reach multiple faces, we eliminate manual re-fixturing and its associated error stack-up.
Single setup, one datum
Every feature is referenced to the same origin, so position and perpendicularity are held across all faces of the part.
Improved Positional Accuracy
Maintaining tight tolerances between features on different sides of a part is significantly easier when the part stays fixed on the machine table.
Reduced Lead Times
Single-setup machining reduces the number of operations, allowing faster throughput from raw stock to finished component.
Superior Surface Finish
Continuous 5-axis tool paths keep constant contact with the material, reducing witness marks and chatter often caused by manual orientation changes.
Engineering Complex Geometries
We specialize in parts that demand high geometric complexity. Our 5-axis workflow is built around the specific behaviors of aluminum, including thermal expansion and internal stress release during heavy material removal.
Free-form Surfaces
Complex 3D contours programmed for simultaneous 5-axis motion, ensuring smooth transitions and consistent wall thickness.
Inclined Holes & Features
Drilling and tapping on non-standard planes is standard for our setups, holding perpendicularity and location accuracy.
Deep Cavities
Shorter, more rigid tooling through 5-axis orientation delivers better vibration control and surface quality in deep pockets, even in thin-walled housings.
Multi-directional Features
Designs with features on five or more sides are often completed in one or two cycles, drastically improving batch repeatability.

Specialized Aluminum Processing
Machining aluminum is fundamentally different from steel or plastic. Our processes are tuned to address the specific behaviors of the material.
Deformation Control
Advanced workholding and optimized cutting parameters prevent warping of thin-walled parts and large enclosures.
Heat Management
High-speed machining of aluminum generates significant heat. High-pressure coolant systems and tool path strategies keep dimensions stable throughout the process.
Anodizing Preparation
We understand how machining marks affect final finishes. Our processes are calibrated so parts reach the anodizing stage with the correct surface integrity, whether clear, black, or hard-coat.
500+
Parts per batch held to the same dimensional requirements as the first article.
1–2
Setup cycles for parts with features on five or more sides.
From prototype to production
For prototypes we prioritize rapid setup and design verification. For production volumes we focus on process stability and repeatability, so every piece in a large batch matches the first.
Quality Assurance
Every part undergoes rigorous inspection before leaving our facility. We provide dimensional inspection reports and First Article Reports (FAR) to confirm compliance with your engineering drawings.
CMM Verification
Critical tolerances, flatness, and parallelism are measured on coordinate measuring machines.
Precision Gauges
Height gauges and surface roughness testers confirm geometry and finish on the shop floor.
Assembly Fit
Documented results ensure complex parts fit perfectly into your final assemblies.
Discuss Your Project
We work with engineers and procurement teams in robotics, automation, and industrial technology who require high-quality aluminum components. If your project involves complex 5-axis parts that demand precision and consistency, we are ready to assist.
