Why specialization matters
Aluminum-focused process control from setup to finish
General machine shops often balance steel, brass, plastics, and other materials with generalized cutting parameters. CNCALPARTS focuses exclusively on aluminum, allowing our tooling, feed rates, clamping methods, and inspection practices to be tuned to its thermal and structural behavior.
Deformation control
Thin-wall parts and large aluminum plates can react to thermal stress and clamping pressure. Our workholding approach is designed to control those effects during machining.
Consistent surfaces
Calibrated tooling and feed rates help minimize chatter and achieve a surface roughness of Ra 0.8–3.2 μm directly from the machine.
Tolerance reliability
Internal stresses are managed throughout production so components can remain within ±0.01 mm precision requirements during and after machining.
Surface engineering
Type III hard anodizing for demanding aluminum components
Type III hard anodizing creates a dense, thick aluminum oxide layer that is significantly harder than standard decorative anodizing. It is selected when a component needs increased surface hardness, strong wear resistance, and a durable finish for repeated use.
Design principle
Treat the coating as part of the final dimensional condition, not as a cosmetic layer added after the design is complete.
Dimensional change
Plan for penetration and build-up
Unlike paint or thin-film coatings, hard anodizing changes the original aluminum surface in two directions:
Penetration
Part of the coating grows into the aluminum substrate.
Build-up
The remaining coating grows outward from the original surface.
Example
With a specified 50 μm coating, approximately 25 μm typically penetrates the part and 25 μm adds to the surface per coated surface.
Clearance holes, bores, threads, and other mating features should be adjusted accordingly. Our pre-production engineering review checks these relationships against assembly requirements.

Production support
A production path from first prototype to repeatable batches
We understand that a one-off prototype and a 500-piece production run require different priorities. The same aluminum-only focus is applied at each stage, with process decisions matched to your project volume.
Prototypes
Fast setup and evaluationWe prioritize fast setups and design evaluation so you can prove the concept, review fit, and identify manufacturing improvements before full-scale production.
Batch production
500+ piecesFor production batches, we focus on stable processes, repeatable workholding, and consistent inspection reports so every part matches the approved first article.
Aluminum only means controlled finishing
Our machines, coolant systems, and finishing lines remain free from cross-contamination with other metals, supporting consistent anodizing results.
Quality assurance
Inspection begins before the first chip is cut
Every project receives a technical review of drawings and 3D models before production. We analyze critical dimensions, tolerance stacks, coating allowances, and assembly requirements so Type III hard anodizing is considered in the manufacturing plan.
Our inspection team uses CMMs, thread gauges, bore gauges, and surface roughness testers to verify parts against your specifications. Dimensional Inspection Reports and First Article Reports are available upon request.
What we review

Common engineering questions
Type III hard anodizing considerations
How does Type III hard anodizing affect part dimensions? +
The coating grows partly into the aluminum and partly outward from the original surface. As a typical planning rule, approximately 50% of the coating thickness penetrates and 50% builds up. A specified 50 μm coating therefore adds approximately 25 μm per coated surface.
Which features need special allowance? +
Clearance holes, bores, threads, and other precision mating features should be reviewed. Our pre-production engineering check evaluates the coating allowance against your assembly fit and tolerance stack.
What industries can use these components? +
Our aluminum CNC machining and finishing services support robotics, optical equipment, industrial automation, electronics, and industrial equipment applications that require consistent, high-quality components.
